This was recommended to me by a local, she said food was good and it was. As a solo diner, I sat at a larger communal table, so strangers sat at same table, but we didn't interact. No prob by me.
Food was good - I got Lechon/Fried Pork Belly ($17), kind of like larger chunks of chicharrones. These bigger cubes were low roasted then fried, topped with a little watercress (not enough), chopped, hardboiled egg, tomatoes and pickled red onion. It was tasty, and I ate all the meat but discarded the fat as I'm not a fan of eating whole chunks of hard animal fat - but, the meat next to it is darn tasty!
I got the Hazy Light IPA ($7) and it was good too.
I would return.
This is a sleek and cool tap room. The food we had was very tasty - however, also quite pricey compared to other restaurants in the area.
Service was attentive and fast. Great care and interest was taken with food allergies (however, there was few options to actually choose from).
The taster flight of beers had some highlights, but also some that did not live up to my expectations.
All in all, I’m happy that we visited - but I do not need to come back here.
Ola Brew Hilo taproom is a hidden gem in the heart of Hilo, and it's a place that has truly won my heart. The moment you step inside, you'll be captivated by the on-point decor that creates a chill and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect blend of style and comfort.
Now, let's talk about the food – it's nothing short of outstanding. I had the pleasure of trying the ahi tostada and lechon, and they were both mouthwatering. The flavors were a delightful explosion of taste, and it's evident that the kitchen takes pride in their craft.
Of course, Ola Brew is renowned for their beverages, and they certainly live up to the hype. With a wide variety of delicious drinks on tap, you're sure to find something that suits your taste. And the staff? They're simply sweet and incredibly attentive, adding a warm touch to your dining experience.
Ola Brew Hilo taproom is a must-visit for foodies, craft brew enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. It's a place where flavors, ambiance, and service combine seamlessly."
Great brewery, friendly staff, tasty food. Lots of great beers to try. If you don't like beer this is also your place as you probably won't find a better selection of hard seltzer, hard cider, or even hard juice (the Chili Lili was interesting).
Modern vibe, with a local twist on Hawaiian and Asian cuisine and some comfort food classics for the normies. Big tables and cozy spaces, room for a lot of guests. Tasty af beers, fermented fruit beverages, and hard sodas with island veg’aina. Katsu duck confit was unique and tasty, I added it to my salad sampler. Yum.
We came pretty close to closing but we still got amazing service! The food was WAY more than we thought we were getting, especially for their low prices. You can make your own flight for their drinks, which I highly recommend because they have a lot of solid options. A great place if you want to chill with some good food and good beer/hard juice/seltzer!
This place was not on our list when we came to the island, it will be next time we visit. The menu is not your typical pub food and was fresh, creative and delicious. The beer was good was well. We even had live music while there which added to a great atmosphere.
This place has been on my list to try for a while. So glad we came in. Got seated fairly quickly and took a while to get our food and drinks ordered. The drinks came out quick, and the food soon followed. All the food was great, and most was not your typical brewhouse food, so this was awesome. I highly recommend the lechon, the serving was huge, and it was delicious. The beers were great as well as their hard seltzer.
